Things to know about Jatayu Earth Center, Chadayamangalam
Kerala often referred to as God’s own country is a beautiful state of India filled with lush green scenic landscapes and beaches. Because of its natural beauty, Kerala has a lot to offer to tourists and travelers. As if this was not enough, the State has now introduced yet another attraction that will surely attract a lot of travel enthusiasts. A must see masterpiece in god’s own country.
I’m talking about the Jatayu Earth Center, located in Chadayamangalam, about 50 km from Trivandrum.
One of the most visually stimulating and inspiring sculptural marvels sits on top of a sacred hill in Kerala. The 200 feet long Jatayu sculpture is a stunning recreation of a legendary bird from Indian Mythology.
The Jatayu Earth Center is the result of one man’s untiring passion and will called Rajiv Anchal. Rajiv is the master sculptor and a path breaking film maker whose movie “Guru” was the first film from Kerala to be selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars. He is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Jatayu Earth Center.
The Jatayu Earth Center is both a tourist as well as a spiritual destination because of one of the saddest scenes in Ramayana, the great Indian epic. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Rama close to the sculpture.
A perennial pond, which was created when Jatayu extracted water from the rock with this beak, can be seen nearby. The footprint of Lord Rama, engraved in stone, is also a major attraction.
