The city of Dwaraka has so much connected with the Indian history. In the Hindu epics Dwaraka is one of the seven pilgrimage sites for spiritual liberation. The other six are Mathura, Ayodhya, Kashi, Kanchipuram, Avantika and Puri.
In the Indian history Dwaraka is known as the legendary city of Lord Krishna. The home of Krishna is also said to be a Gateway to Heaven.It is said that the city was submerged by the sea right after the death of Sri Krishna some 3500 years before. Though some say its a myth but in the early eighties an important archaeological site was found here which tells a lot about the myth being true.
After spending my time in Somnath, I took a train and it took me around 10 hours to reach this beautiful city.
The Sri Krishna temple in Okha is an interesting one. To temple is situated in an Island and you need to take a ferry (boat) to reach there.
Rukshamanee Mandir is dedicated to the beloved wife of Lord Krishna, Devi Rukmani.
